Score! Algorand bags FIFA to Launch New NFT Platform

  • FIFA, a soccer governing board in collaboration with the Algorand Blockchain will be releasing a new  NFT platform prior to the anticipated World Cup.
  • FIFA+ Collect will allow soccer enthusiasts to own and sell classic clips from the history of the popular football tournament.

With the World Cup approaching, FIFA, a global soccer governing body is launching a new NFT platform called FIFA+ Collect. The NFT platform will allow football lovers to collect and own incredible clips in the history of both the men’s world cup and women’s world cup.

FIFA+ Collect will be launching later this month just weeks before the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The platform will allow fans to own and sell moments in time featuring incredible moments such as the greatest goals, saves, celebrations, and more from World Cup and Women’s World Cup history, FIFA stated.

Algorand bagged the official technical partnership deal back in May and it will provide the official blockchain-supported wallet for FIFA. FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Alogrand Founder Silvio Micali announced;

“The collaboration is a clear indication of FIFA’s commitment to continually seeking innovative channels for sustainable revenue growth for further reinvestment back into football ensuring transparency to our stakeholders and worldwide football fans – a key element of our vision to make football truly global,” Infantino said in a statement.

FIFA is following the footsteps of Dapper Labs, parents to CryptoKitties, the first NFT collection to gain traction on the Ethereum blockchain. Dapper Labs also held the NBA Top Shot, a basketball collectible platform. FIFA+ will contain classic moments that will be set out as digital assets and will be held in the Alogrand Blockchain.
