  • Layer-1 blockchain Zilliqa is working on a web3 games console to be launched in early 2023.
  • The console will hide the complexities of web3 from users.

In partnership with XBorg, Layer-1 blockchain Zilliqa has unveiled a prototype Web3 games console. According to the team behind the project, the console will be available to the public in early 2023. With the launch of the hardware and a gaming hub, the blockchain project will be immersing itself in the promising web3 space.

According to a release from the project, the team is working on this in part to “hide the complexity of Web3 from the end-user.” To achieve this, Zilliqa engineers have spent at least 6 months in research and development. With this console, Zilliqa will be able to integrate several features of Web3 including crypto wallets, mining, and other blockchain techs.

Although there are a few pictures online, the details of the console are still a secret. The pictures show a console made with a sleek design, HDMI portals, Ethernet, and USB 3.0 connections.

Since Zilliqa announced its entry into the gaming space, Polygon has also confirmed its intentions to follow the trend. For this, Polygon Studios is working with Web3 gaming platform ITSBLOC. The two aim to empower a new generation of blockchain games.

Though the recent announcement has stirred excitement among the Zilliqa community members, a few months away, the Zilliqa announcement has done little for the project’s native token- ZIL. At the time of press, the coin has only managed a marginal increase of less than 2%. Like most coins in the crypto market, ZIL is stuck in a bearish pattern. At $0.03316, the digital asset is more than 85% below its all-time high. Despite the slump, the coin remains one of the most promising cryptocurrencies in the space. According to some analysts, it has the potential of more than 100x from current prices.
