Solana’s Bold Move to Compete with Wall Street: Can SOL Reach $200 with On-Chain Stock Issuance?

  • Solana is challenging traditional stock exchanges with a bold push into on-chain equity issuance and a proposed consensus upgrade to improve fairness and speed.
  • With strong adoption and bullish price momentum, SOL could soon hit the $200 mark.

Solana is making bold moves to challenge traditional financial heavyweights like Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange by pushing into on-chain stock issuance. The blockchain network has unveiled a major proposal that could transform how public companies issue and trade equities—right from the blockchain.

In a significant technical shift, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko and Anza researcher Max Resnick have suggested updating Solana’s consensus mechanism. The duo proposes introducing multiple concurrent leaders—rather than relying on a single leader to confirm blocks. This would reduce the risk of transaction censorship and improve the sequencing of trades, a key factor for fair and transparent markets.

Industry leaders are taking notice. Paradigm’s Dan Robinson described the proposal as “impressive,” while the broader crypto-finance space is buzzing with activity. Superstate, for instance, has launched its “Opening Bell” platform to enable firms to issue and trade tokenized shares on Solana and Ethereum. Robinhood is also exploring similar moves in Europe, eyeing Solana and Ethereum’s Arbitrum for potential integration.

Regulatory signals are equally promising. SEC Commissioner Hester Pierce recently floated the idea of exempting certain digital securities from registration, a clear nod toward embracing decentralized ledger technology (DLT) in mainstream finance.

Solana is already leading in network adoption and revenue, outpacing Ethereum in April. MEXC exchange COO Tracy Jin highlighted that Solana’s total DEX volume surpassed $800 billion in 2025—a milestone that underscores growing investor confidence and on-chain liquidity.

Jin also projected a bullish trajectory for SOL’s price, suggesting it could hit $200 in May. With SOL already crossing $160 thanks to a broader Bitcoin rally, the next hurdle is the $180 resistance—coinciding with the key 200-day moving average.

Solana’s aggressive pivot into the tokenized equity arena positions it as a credible disruptor to legacy stock exchanges. If its consensus upgrades succeed and regulatory winds remain favorable, Solana may not only redefine how stocks are issued—but also see its native token reach new heights.
