IOTA One Step Closer to ‘Unite Them All’ With Shimmer Mainnet Launch
- The Shimmer network launch will bring the IOTA Foundation closer to the unification of its three “interdependent and interconnected” networks.
- IOTA’s native token has gained over 10% in the last 7 days, ahead of the 28th Sept launch of the Shimmer network.
It’s just two days to the launch of the highly anticipated Shimmer network. As confirmed by the IOTA Foundation, the launch of the Shimmer network is scheduled for September 28th. In anticipation, the IOTA community has been pumping the project’s native token, MIOTA. At the time of press, the digital asset has gained more than 10% to reach $0.3045. Its daily trading volume has also surged by more than 700%.

As Crypto-newsmedia reported earlier, the Shimmer network is an incubator hub that will help accelerate the development and innovation of projects on the IOTA mainnet. The project notes on its website; Shimmer is a pre-production staging network of IOTA. The network comes with its own token dubbed $SMR. But while the Shimmer network is completely dependent, it is interconnected with IOTA and IOTA’s Assembly.
Shimmer Network Launch Key to Uniting Them All
The IOTA Foundation is on a mission to build three “interdependent and interconnected” networks to achieve a fully operational IOTA. Shimmer and Assembly are the two new networks. The team behind Assembly notes on the network’s website; Assembly is a permissionless protocol to build, connect and deploy smart contracts on a feeless multi-chain network.” This network will also have its own token dubbed $ASMB. For now, the community can stake their tokens on the Assembly network.
According to a roadmap revealed by the IOTA team earlier this year, after the Shimmer network launch, the team will move forward with the Shimmer EVM launch (Public IOTA Smart Contracts Virtual Machine), IOTA Stardust upgrade, Assembly root chain launch on IOTA, IOTA staking and finally Coordicide and the first, upcoming real-world validation.
In the blog post, the IOTA Foundation says that by deploying all these facets, IOTA will become an ecosystem of “networks to unite them all.”
By bringing together IOTA, the L1 infrastructure, Shimmer, the staging network, and Assembly’s multi-chain approach, we set the course to expand the horizon of our core utilities and to set precedents for the future of Web3 building.
