Fraud Alert, Beeple’s Discord URL Compromised
- NFT artist Beeple says “Discord is trash” after realizing the URL leads his fans to drain their wallets.
- The misdirecting discord URL has been fastened by the artist, this is in line with what maxnaut.eth tweeted.
NFT artist Mike “Beeple” Winkelmann has warned his fans that the URL link to his official Discord server has been hacked.
The hack was first reported by Twitter user maxnaut.eth, who shared a screenshot of the malicious link. The link redirects users to a fake CollabLand bot that asks them to verify their account ownership.
CollabLand is a legitimate bot that helps to moderate Discord servers. However, the scammers have created a fake version of the bot that steals users’ cryptocurrency wallets.
Beeple has since fixed the malicious link, but the damage has already been done. It is unclear how many users have been affected by the hack.
This is not the first time that Beeple’s social media accounts have been targeted by scammers. In November 2021, his Twitter account was hacked and used to promote a fake NFT drop. The scammers made off with around $176,000 worth of cryptocurrency.
Beeple is a popular target for scammers because he is one of the most well-known NFT artists in the world. He has sold several NFTs for millions of dollars, making him a prime target for cybercriminals.
Users are advised to be wary of any links that they receive from Beeple or his team. If you are not sure whether a link is legitimate, it is best to avoid clicking on it.
