Ripple Announces $700M Buyback at $175/Share
In a powerful show of financial strength and investor confidence, Ripple has launched a $700 million share buyback at an offer price of $175 per share. The tender offer, which began on June 10 and ends on July 9, is being facilitated through the Nasdaq Private Market, targeting shareholders with vested stock or options

Massive Premium Reflects Ripple’s Confidence
The $175/share offer represents a whopping 135% premium over recent secondary market prices on platforms like Hyve, where Ripple shares were trading at just $74–$75. According to investor Jeremy Raper, who shared the news via X (formerly Twitter), this move demonstrates Ripple’s strong belief in its long-term growth trajectory. The new offer significantly surpasses Ripple’s previous buyback price of $125 earlier this year.

Strong Balance Sheet and Profitability
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s email to investors revealed key financials:
- $3.7 billion in cash
- No debt
- 41 billion XRP held, worth $47B to $94B, depending on valuation methods
- $600 million in other investments
- Over $1 billion in EBIT generated last year
With 141 million shares outstanding, Raper estimates Ripple’s balance sheet could justify a price north of $350/share, even when discounted heavily.
IPO Not Coming Soon—but Speculation Grows
Although Ripple’s SEC battle has mostly been resolved and its acquisitions are expanding globally, an IPO is not currently on the table, according to company statements. Instead, this buyback likely serves to provide liquidity to early stakeholders and maintain internal equity control.
Still, the crypto community continues to speculate: If Ripple went public, could it command a $35–$50 billion valuation? Given its financial metrics and XRP reserves, many believe so.
