The Shanghai Upgrade

The Shanghai upgrade is a planned hard fork slated to occur by April 12, 2023. It will implement EIP-4895, allowing validators to withdraw ETH staked on the Beacon Chain from December 2020.

The Beacon Chain is Ethereum’s proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus layer that was launched in parallel to the original proof-of-work (PoW) execution layer of the Ethereum mainnet.

The Web3 staking pool, is designed to provide a simple and efficient way for users to stake their Ethereum assets and earn rewards. Additionally, Bybit stated that customers will not have to purchase Ethereum (ETH) to access the staking pool. They can also use Bitcoin (BTC) Tether (USDT) USD Coin (USDC).

The staking pool will allow users to contribute their assets to the Ethereum network’s PoS consensus mechanism, helping to secure the network while earning staking rewards. Bybit’s staking pool will also provide users with a seamless and user-friendly staking experience, with easy deposit and withdrawal processes and competitive staking rewards.

We’re excited to launch our Web3 staking pool ahead of the Shanghai upgrade. By providing a simple and efficient staking experience for our users, we’re not only helping to secure the Ethereum network, but we’re also helping to make staking more accessible to a wider range of users. We’re committed to providing our users with the best possible experience and the launch of our staking pool is just one example of this.

Bybit CEO Ben Zhou commented on the launch.

Bybit’s launch of its Web3 staking pool demonstrates the exchange’s commitment to supporting the growth and development of the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

With the Shanghai upgrade on the horizon, Bybit is well-positioned to continue providing users with innovative solutions and opportunities in the cryptocurrency space.
